Sweets…and Brushing Teeth

My daughter likes eating sweets. Sometimes she’ll have more than one a day. I usually tell her that it’s it’s not good for her health, especially her teeth. But she likes them anyway.

So today, after brushing her teeth, she went and got a huge lollipop, the ones that leave the mouth blue-colored. After licking it just once, she said, “Eeeew! This tastes so bad after brushing my teeth!”

And right there, it dawned on me. God warns us about certain things that are not good for us, but we find them oh so delicious, so tempting, so inviting. But if we would go to him for the brushing of our teeth, the washing of our sins, our eyes would be opened, and we would behold the sin for what it really is!

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb,
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour,
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb,
Are your garments spotless are they white as now,
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb,
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!!
