Yesterday evening my daughter and I were taking a walk. There were very many lights and so our shadows were very long. She ran ahead so that her shadow would be longer than mine, so that she could say that she was taller than I.
I ran after her and covered her shadow with mine, and she couldn’t see hers any more. I made gestures with my hands and she copied them. We looked funny!
Then I stepped aside and her small shadow remained on its own, while my big one ‘won’. She hid inside my shadow again, and the games continued.
It was lovely…realizing that when she was in my shadow, she could make much greater movements. Like when we are hidden in God. When we align ourselves in Him, we become giants and can do so much more than when we are alone. When we are hidden in Him, the surrounding world can’t tell us apart and trample on us. We are insurmountable.
If God be for me, who can be against me?? Let us therefore hide ourselves in God and enjoy His covering, protection, omniscience, omnipotence…all that He is, in our favor, and in our battles. It will be easier and better that way.
Apart from Him, we can do nothing. But with and in Him, all things are possible…exceedingly above what we could ever hope for, ask, think or imagine.
