God is with You, yes He is.

When we go to the salon for a blow-dry, we often complain about pain or heat as the hairdresser works on our hair. Often, it is easy to think that there is malice in the process, especially if the hairdresser is a lady (yes, remember those stories told about lady hairdressers being jealous of our long locks, etc etc; anyway, that’s beside the point here). We’re generally usually not too happy during those moments.

But when blow-drying ourselves, somehow, we bear the pain,it doesn’t seem too bad after all. Now, when blow-drying our children – like I was blow-drying my daughter today –  the story is a little different. As Mums, we’re the ones on the receiving end.

We get to hear those same sentiments…from our very own daughters. So when I heard the same comments today, I thought – baby girl, my fingers are in there, feeling the heat with you, wincing with you as I detangle your hair, surely, I can’t have any bad plans for you! All I want is for your hair to be smoothrelaxed, easy to combready for plaiting. I’m only as much heatair pressure as is necessary,no more. ( I wasn’t  even on maximum!)

And then it dawned on me – that’s the same case with usGod. He’s right there with us in the midst of our cleansingpurifying periods, detangling our characterburning away the chaff…He’s feeling the heat together with us,is truly right there with us in every single way –only for our own good. He’s easing our lives a little bit through that process,He’s preparing us for the next level.

“So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more your Father in heaven?”  His yoke is easy,His burden is light (paraphrased, Matthew 11:28-30). And the Bible continues to say, in 1 Pet. 5:10, “After you have suffered a little while, I will restore you, confirm you, strengthen youestablish you.”

God is right there with us, even through the tough times, purifying our characterpreparing us for the next level that He’s prepared for us.
