Tact and fact
Being the movie freak that I am, I get to watch quite a number, though not as many as I would like. One I saw the other day sent me thinking deeply about my career. There was a man who was wholeheartedly, even fanatically, chasing after what he believed existed as treasure. Most people thought he was crazy, but one loyal friend (who also needed him as a friend) who stuck by him.
They worked well together for a while, till they met a professional in that field, and sadly, the ‘loyal friend’ was relegated to the background and only consulted to help in small matters the bigger issues were handled by the dreamer and the professional. Can’t blame them, right?
In this cold, hard, world, fact and tact are needed to get ahead in life and career, and not just the ability to be good company. I thought how serious it is for me to get my professional act together, and be good at what I do; sometimes that’s what really counts. (Oh yes they did find the treasure, and it’s an easy guess who was a bit sad.)
